The bootcamp promise was intoxicating: skip four years of “irrelevant” computer science theory, learn the hot frameworks in 12 weeks, land a $80k job. Course Report data shows 72% of bootcamp graduates find jobs within six months, with starting salaries averaging $70k not far behind CS graduates who invested four years and accumulated substantial debt.
It seemed to be working. New bootcamp grads were getting jobs and committing code. On comparison with first year CS graduates, productivity seemed similar if not even better. The most vocal people were those with success stories or bootcamps themselves trying to prove their value.

The problems emerge weeks or months later, security breaches traced to subtle vulnerabilities, performance degradation under load, architectural decisions that make future features impossible to implement efficiently.
Across the industry, bootcamp graduates are discovering that their syntax-focused education left them unprepared for an AI-dominated development landscape. They can generate code as fast as anyone, but they can’t evaluate whether that code is secure, scalable, or maintainable.
The Vindication
Every computer science professor who was told their algorithms course was “irrelevant to real-world development” is quietly enjoying vindication. Every CS curriculum committee that refused to cut theoretical coursework in favor of more framework training is being proven right. People should have known better

Honestly through, this is not new. We all should have known better. If you have two people, one who spends 8 weeks learning and another who spends 4 years, it should have been obvious. Yes, there was a time when everyone who could code, even a little bit, succeeded, but that was never going to last.
