Long Bio

James Luterek is a seasoned ecommerce professional with two decades of experience across software development, architecture, marketing, and analytics. Since graduating from the State University of New York with a bachelor's in computer science and mathematics, James has worked in a large variety of roles from programmer, solution architect, director, and currently VP of engineering.

With a wide range of interests, James has presented at conferences including All Things Open, API World, Google DevFest, and DeveloperWeek CloudX. More recently, he has been deep in the AI-assisted coding space, exploring how tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot are changing the way software gets built. While comfortable speaking to an audience or discussing technology, he feels at home with an open IDE writing code.

Today, James is busy drinking copious amounts of caffeine, building with AI coding tools, and helping enterprise clients maximize their commerce implementation through code, workshops, data modeling, and implementations.

His previous positions include Programmer, Architect, and Director giving him a wide understanding of the software development process. With a degree in both Mathematics and Computer Science in addition to over 15 years of professional experience, James is confident that programmers need coffee to function, dogs are superior to cats, and there is no such thing as a monitor that is too big.

He has advised startups to Fortune 100 companies including Ulta Beauty, NBC Universal, PGA Tour, Five Below, and Green Thumb Industries on commerce implementations for custom builds and off-the-shelf software packages including Magento and commercetools. James has degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from the State University of New York.
